ATN ThOR 4 Series Review
The ATN ThOR 4 384 thermal scope features the 4th generation Obsidian thermal sensor with 384x288 thermal resolution. Equipped with powerful optics, it gives you precise and reliable images even on smaller targets even at longer range.
The ThOR 4's thermal sensor a has 60Hz refresh rate allowing you to easily track the fastest moving targets with out image blurring. While it is possible to hunt with a 30Hz thermal scope once you have used a 60Hz scope it is very hard to go back to a lower refresh rate.
With the Wi-Fi streaming option, you’re able to give your audience live streaming action of your hunting expeditions. You can share your videos and images on social media easily because this scope also comes with Bluetooth 4.1 that’s compatible with iOS and Android SmartPhones.
When you share your hunting content with your audience you need high resolution video recordings. The video resolution on the ATN ThOR 4 384 thermal scope is 1280x960 at 30/60 frames per second. Your videos can be stored on a large 64GB SD card and transferred to a PC easily.
ATN's Obsidian app also integrates with the ThOR 4 allowing you to stream video to your phone or tablet while recording on your scope. You can also easily changed the settings on your scope from the app as well. The app is available for iPhone and Android users.
One Shot Zero
The ATN ThOR brand makes it effortless when sighting your scope with One Shot Zero technology. This feature allows you to take a shot and then adjust your reticle for ultimate target shooting precision.
Easy Navigation and Menu System
With all the features the ThOR 4 series offers, you’d think it would be difficult to find all the functions on the scope. But the THOR thermal scopes are user friendly because the navigation and menu system allows you to find all the features an intuitive layout and easily change settings as needed.
Recoil Activated Video
The recoil activated video (RAV) setting allows you to record videos while you’re hunting and automatically saves the content onto your SD card. The scope starts recording as you take your shot and continues recording for a few seconds after. So you never have to worry about not having footage of your shots. This allows you to not have worry about forgetting to start recording before your shot and also means you want have to sift through hours of footage to find your shots if you just started recording at the beginning of your hunt.

What we liked
The ThOR 4 384 2-8x has an exceptionally solid construction but it’s also light weight for a thermal scope. Less weight allows you to go on longer hunts and it won't affect the accuracy of your shots. It’s a durable scope made from a hardened aluminum alloy with an impact resistant core.
The thermal resolution on the THOR 4 384 thermal rifle scope 384x288 which provides you with sharp and vibrant images & videos. This is an upgrade that is a notable improvement to the THOR LT but the resolution is still less than the THOR 4 640.
Although the THOR 4 384 thermal rifle scope has a lower thermal resolution than the THOR 640, it still offers crisp clear images and videos at a lower price than the 640.
Note: the below images are web optimized images and the actual raw images are much clearer.
ATN THOR’s 4 384 thermal scope has a wide range of color palettes to select from for all types of environments, some of the most popular are:
- Black Hot
- White Hot
The Zoom wheel can be found on the left hand side of the scope and it’s a smooth mechanism that’s easy to use. You can easily zoom in or out quickly to locate your target.
The front focus wheel is a little tight so it can be difficult to adjust it. But we would prefer it to be a little tight as opposed to loose as it could rotate after shooting which require to readjust it frequently.
One advantage of the ThOR 4 384 is that it comes with accessories that other brands don’t offer. With your ThOR 4 384 rifle scope you’ll receive the following additional items:
- Standard rings
- L-Sharp ring
- Scope cover
- USB-C cable
- Lens cleaner

The Pulsar Thermion isn’t as streamlined as the ATN ThOR 4 384 thermal scope and the functions aren’t as easy to navigate through. The Pulsar Thermion also doesn’t have the long battery life that the THOR 4 series offers unless you purchase the external battery pack.
