Last updated on September 17, 2022

You can’t talk about leading thermal imaging device manufacturers without mentioning ATN. Known for designing and building high quality products from scratch, ATN is one of the leading manufacturers of night vision devices. And the ATN X-Sight 4K Pro is one of its most notable inventions.

So why the hype around this day and night rifle scope? The ATN X-Sight 4k Pro is every hunting or shooting enthusiast’s dream thanks to its impressive specs. It incorporates digital night vision technology which has becoming increasingly popular in the commercial industry where it was previously confined to the military sector. Users can now use this scope for both day and night time shooting.

Companies like ATN have taken advantage of this evolving technology by designing a high-performance product that’s useful to any shooter and accessible to the public. We dive in depth in our X Sight 4k pro review to help you decide if its the best night vision scope for you.

What Are the Smart HD Optics by ATN?

The smart HD optics is the latest generation within the X-sight Pro range to come out of ATN’s product offering. This new range is characterized by new & improved features when compared to the previous X-Sight II model. And all the afore-mentioned factors are designed to offer users seamless performance.

Included in this impressive HD optics line are the following:

If you’re a novice hunter, you’ll still find this scope relatively easy to operate. This is because the manufacturer designed the unit using ergonomic technology that’s simple and intuitive. The tactile buttons present on the device allow for quick and easy navigation as well as maximum control.

The X-Sight 4k Pro weighs just over 2 lbs. making it a relatively lightweight unit. Handling and transporting the scope during your shooting adventures will be hassle-free.

We list some of the key features that set the device apart from the rest.

ATN X-Sight 4K Pro Sensor:

The value of a rifle scope mostly lies in its image quality. And the clarity of images produced by the unit - or lack thereof - is determined by the sensor. You’ll be impressed by the new 4K M265 Sensor found on this day night scope designed to produce HD images. This is a fast ATN Obsidian IV dual core processor which guarantees efficient performance. The same processor is designed to allow for fast processing speeds which translate to clearer pictures in multiple vivid colors.

Thanks to the ultra sensor which features a 600lp/mm system resolution, targets and objects are viewed with clarity - even after zooming. Images are clear and vibrant with little to no pixelation.

Optic Options for the ATN X-Sight 4k Pro:

There are two optics that are available for the ATN X-Sight 4k Pro: 3-14x and 5-20x. The 3-14x scope has 9° Field of View and the 5-20x version has 5° Field of View at 1000 yards.

The X-Sight 4K Pro is designed to take two readings of your intended target, after which the scope will focus on your prey for an accurate shot.

To increase your chances of hitting the target, the scope features a ballistic calculator and a smart range finder. You won’t be missing your target thanks to this feature that guarantees an accurate shot regardless of temperature, humidity and range. The built in ballistic calculator is easy to use and great feature common on higher priced thermal scopes.

Night Vision Mode:

Are you a fan of night hunting? Don’t let the darkness stop you from embarking on your favorite night time outdoor adventure. As mentioned earlier, ATN incorporated the latest in night vision technology on the device.

This way you can view objects with ease in no—or low light—conditions. Simply switch the scope to night vision mode and spot objects on the crisp HD display.

Video Recording and Storage:

For the longest time, users have expressed concern with the lack of recording capabilities - and storage - in past scope models. Because ATN strives for customer satisfaction, it included the dual video recording and storage functionality on this device.

You can now record videos directly onto the SD card located on the device for viewing at a later date. This is also made possible by the recoil activated video functionality that’s designed to start recording before and after the shot.

Footage is stored on the removable SD memory card which has a sizeable storage capacity of 64GB.

Dual Streaming:

Another impressive feature included on this rifle-scope is the dual streaming capability. What’s unique about this latest technological innovation is that the device allows you to not only record but also stream content onto your SmartPhone—simultaneously.

Mounting Options:

The last thing you need after purchasing this rifle scope is the hassle of a complicated setup. Fortunately that’s something you don’t have to worry about if you pick this model. Not only is it easy to use, but pretty simple to mount.

For mounting purposes, the manufacturer included three rings:

  • Standard rings
  • L-shape
  • One with a Picatinny rail

Simply pick the right one for your needs.

Generally speaking the scope features a 3.5”eye-relief which can be mounted using the standard 30mm ring. When you need extra eye-relief, make use of the L-shape ring provided.

We strongly recommend that you first pick the ring you prefer as well as the position before mounting. This means making sure you have selected a position that allows for optimal eye relief.

To mount simply follow these quick and easy steps:

  • Place the top part of your ring over the lower section of your rifle
  • Ensure that the holes are in alignment with the screws
  • Use an Allen wrench provided to apply torque to all the screws
  • Ensure the screws are tight to avoid them coming off during recoil

If you’re unsure of the mounting process, be sure to refer to the instruction manual for further clarification.

Word of advice: Always make sure that the weapon is not loaded before mounting to avoid accidents.

One Shot Zero:

Regardless of your shooting skill level, you’ll find the one shot-zero feature particularly useful—more so if you’re a beginner. This functionality is designed to make sighting the scope much quicker and easier.

The one shot zero is easy to use. You simply take a shot at your target aimed at the bulls-eye. Once you have taken your shot you move the recticle to location of your shot and set it. This zero's the scope in with future shots hitting the bulls-eye.

Battery Life:

Your hunting adventure won’t be cut short if you pick this model. The unit is powered by two non-removable CR batteries and is designed to run continuously for over 18 hours before it requires another charge. But note that battery life is also dependent on other factors such as settings.

Thanks to the unit’s low battery power profile, you don’t have to worry about the scope prematurely running out of power.

Warranty:

The day night vision scope is covered by a two year limited warranty while the accessories have one year coverage. Note that the battery is covered by an impressive six year warranty.

FAQ

Is the IR Illuminator included?

Yes, the X-Sight 4K Pro Smart features an IR light which allows the device to display objects more clearly especially at night.

IR Illuminator

What’s the range?

Generally the range will depend on the time of day that you use the rifle scope. During the day it allows for an image detection range of between 400 to 500 yards. At night the range is slightly reduced to 300 yards.

Note that the image quality is affected by the distance with the picture becoming grainy with the long distance. But clarity of target can easily be improved with longer distances by upgrading the IR light. Yes, it may cost you a little extra but the improved image quality makes it worth the extra dollars.

Can it handle 50cal?

Yes the ATN X-Sight 4K can handle a 50cal bullet.

How do you update firmware?

For updates you start by visiting this ATN link, www.atncorp.com/firmware, and downloading the latest firmware onto your computer. After that you then transfer the downloaded file onto the removable micro-SD card. Insert the micro-SD card into your device and switch on the unit.

After powering on the device, you follow the prompts that are displayed until completion of the updating process.

Conclusion

Generally this weapon is a worthwhile investment. Not only does it provide you with amazing scope but the vision is superb - particularly during night time. Simply note that for even better night vision we’d highly recommend upgrading the illuminator.

Occasionally you’re bound to experience a few glitches but it’s not uncommon with such devices. Also note that the software isn’t necessarily the best for use with iPhones. Android users will benefit more from this device.

Overall, it’s a product worth considering for any hunting or shooting enthusiast. It’ll significantly improve your shooting accuracy so you’re less likely to miss your targets.

With that said, would I recommend ATN 4K X-Sight Pro to a friend? Absolutely.
