The FLIR SCOUT II 240 is FLIR’s entry level compact thermal camera for spotting nocturnal animals. It belongs to the Flir's SCOUT line up that includes Scout II 240, Scout II 320 and Scout II 640. The main differences between the three cameras is a sensor. Scout II small size and user-friendly operation makes it one of the best entry level thermal imagers on the market today. Some of the features that Flir Scout II is features:

The Scout’s rechargeable batteries last up to 5 hours giving you plenty of spotting time. The 240 can also withstand drops and it weather tight enabling it to survive shallow water submersion. Let's take a look at the differences between the 3 models:

As you can see, the higher end detector in the FLIR SCOUT 640 allows you to have a greater detection range as well as 4x zoom. You will have to decide for yourself if you need that. Otherwise, the thermal cameras are the same. All of them start up in less than 15 seconds and have 3 detection filers: White hot, Black hot and InstAlert.
