Can it detect rats and other pests behind walls?
No, in almost all circumstances the HT-19 cannot detect rats and other pests behind walls as it only reads surface temperatures. Only when a pest has remained, unmoving, behind the wall for an extended period of time is this possible.
Can it help me detect leaks?
Absolutely. In fact, leak detection is one of the routine tasks that the HT-19 excels in. Water and air leaks are quickly detected & clearly displayed on the screen.
Can it help me detect circuit board issues?
Certainly. The device can effectively detect issues found on circuit boards. However, it is recommended that you purchase an additional lens for even better efficiency.
Does it have manual focus?
No, the HT-19 does not have a manual focus option. The device has a fixed focus mode only.
Can it detect animals in the dark?
Yes, the HT-19 can detect animals in the dark up to 165ft away. In saying that, the HT-19 was not designed with this purpose in mind. If this would be your primary reason for purchasing the device, we recommend getting a thermal scope or monocular.
Can it stream a live feed to a computer?
No, the HT-19 cannot stream a live feed to a computer. It can only capture images on the 3GB SD card which can then be transferred to a computer via micro USB connection.
What’s the difference between HT18 and HT19?

This review is for the HT19, firmware V2.18, bought May 2020Based on image resolution, dual camera CCD sensors (normal and infrared) the HT19 is aimed at competing with the Flir E6. This is why I bought it.The HT19 does a reasonable job, however the images are very grainy compared to the E6.The boot time is excessive at 14 seconds (full battery), where you are left staring at a picture of a car motor. It would be far more useful to show the camera model number, the firmware version, how much memory is left on the camera for picture taking and finally, the camera resolution and year and month of manufacture. I don’t car about looking at picture of a car engine. The biggest down side is that the normal vision camera is not connected or used. I say this from four observations on the function of the camera.1) The image registration function does not work. The normal daylight vision vision is missing completely and you can do nothing to image register. There are no two sensor images to register. You only get the thermal image.2) When you block the normal image sensor, nothing changes on the camera function in either thermal mode or image registration mode.3) There is no menu function for you to call up and see the normal vision image to screen.4) The HT19 only allows recording the thermal image. The normal vision camera image does not exist. In comparison, the FLIR E6 automatically records both the normal vision image and thermal image to JPG.
UpdateSince I’m unable to edit my first review on the HT19, I’d like to post a follow up comment. The normal vision camera does work and the the image registration works as well. The instruction manual fails to mention , to use the sideways keys in normal operation to first cycle through the option of overlaying normal with infrared images. If you try to image register the two CCDs in default mode, the system “fails”, that is normal vision image is switched off and it appears that you cannot image register.Suggestion to Xintest, the manufacturers of the HT19. Instead of relying on the user to take the camera out of default mode of infra red only, put the camera into overlay mode automatically when doing an image registration. The camera is working correctly, but the software UX for image registration is set up for a fail if the user does not first activate both cameras in normal viewing mode, using the sideways keys. This is not explained in the instruction manual.
